e Las Vegas Raiders would break their franchise record for most points scored in a game with 63 in a season as dysfunctional as theirs in 2023? They triumphed 63-21 over division foe Los Angeles Chargers.
It was a lot of fun, so if you’re a media member or fan of the Raiders, you probably enjoyed what you witnessed on Thursday Night Football. The score was 49-0 at the half, so if you’re a Chargers fan, you probably wanted them to end the game sooner.
Like the Raiders, the Chargers have had an awful season, but in this regard, the Chargers ought to have had a postseason-caliber campaign by now since everyone knows the Raiders aren’t actually a playoff club.
Similar to how the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels, the Chargers too needed to make a change. Unfortunately for the Chargers, though, if he had defeated the Raiders, coach Brandon Staley would have probably been in charge for at least another week.
They needed to start over and get rid of him. Not that I’m criticizing the Raiders; they just went through it. It simply happens. Justin Herbert is a great quarterback whose abilities are being wasted by the Chargers.
Thus, one could argue that the Raiders greatly benefited the Chargers. It made the franchise even more aware that a change was long overdue. The Raiders should not have led 49-0 at the half for any reason.
The Chargers announced on Friday morning that they had let both general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Brandon Staley go, but the Raiders had done them a huge favor.
