An unblemished record cannot be taken away, but the 49ers are not just scraping by in recent contests. They have a cumulative score differential of 529 to 239 points over their rivals. Furthermore, 12 of those matches included victories by a minimum of 13 points.
That’s almost a 33–15 average. For a squad with a quarterback who is 23 years old, not too bad.
It was evident that Deebo took great pride in the game on Sunday. Additionally, we witnessed a head coach taking advantage of Samuel’s “revenge.” Early on, Kyle Shanahan utilized Deebo as a decoy to spark the offense. CBS Analyst Jeff Kerr made the argument for Samuel:
Deebo Samuel is still the most dangerous player on offense: Samuel reminded the league how dangerous he is with the ball in his hands, having seven touches for 138 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday — averaging 19.7 yards per touch. Samuel scored touchdowns on his last three touches to break the game open, as the Eagles defense had no answer for him. With an offense that has Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, Samuel showcased why he’s the difference-maker who gets San Francisco’s offense to become the most dangerous unit in the league when healthy. There’s a reason why San Francisco wins games when Samuel is on the field.
Samuel’s 12-yard rushing touchdown saw him reach a speed of 20.4 miles per hour. Additionally, he passed 20 mph on his 46-yard touchdown pass. Only Tyreek Hill had multiple touches this past week where he reached at least 20 miles per hour, and Deebo is the third 49ers player to do it on a play.
So, Samuel has a point in terms of explosiveness and quickness. His versatility is demonstrated by his use of Deebo. However, you could make a same case for Christian McCaffrey, who was utilized in Week 13 as a true receiver.
However, you also can’t discount the contributions made by George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk. This season, they have also put on a good number of memorable performances.
For Week 13, Samuel has been selected as the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. Deebo became the fourth wide receiver (WR) to reach 100+ receiving yards, two touchdown grabs, and a touchdown run in a single game since 2000.
