On Wednesday night, the Golden State Warriors will try to snap a three-game losing run at home against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Warriors (35-32) lost 119-112 to the New York Knicks on Monday, dropping to 17-18 on their home court in a game they never led.
Following a 10-2 road run, the Warriors had climbed as high as tenth in the Western Conference rankings before to their home losing streak.
After Golden State fell behind by double digits early on Monday, Stephen Curry came on strong, but he later expressed frustration over the absence of a home-court advantage.
“Atypical,” he remarked. “Our go-to option for providing ourselves with a small buffer each season for however long has been the home court. We will have to conquer this obstacle at some point in the near future.
“The ideal situation would be to attempt to have your home court in a play-in situation, or if you’re a lower seed in a series, you have to win here and defend your home court. Thus, you must fix whatever is wrong with us.”
The Warriors’ loss put them to 10th place in the conference. To host a first-round playoff game, they would need to advance one slot; if necessary, they would need to advance two spots to guarantee two games, the second of which would be played at home.
After seeing his team defeat the ninth-ranked Los Angeles Lakers 128-121 on the road on Sunday, Golden State coach Steve Kerr signaled his team’s readiness for a late charge.
“If we can get hot and get on a run, there’s no telling what happens ahead of us,” Kerr stated. “I’m happy with where we are; maybe we’ll stay healthy. Looking at the big view, we’ve performed fairly well for the last thirty games or so. We should be able to make a run and position ourselves for success heading into the postseason, in my opinion.
