Due to the Golden State Warriors’ challenging 2023–24 campaign, there has been discussion regarding whether the dynasty is ultimately over at different stages. According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, it ceased last year.
“Is the dynasty over? was a topic of discussion early in the season. Is the dynasty terminated? According to me, the dynasty ended last year,” stated Poole. “However, if they got everything together, I still believed they might have a really good playoff run, and you can see that it hasn’t. ‘Man, what are we gonna do?’ is the sentiment expressed by Warriors supporters, who were feeling extremely optimistic just a few weeks ago. Based on the team’s performance thus far, there is nothing to be hopeful about.”
That really is a wake-up call. With a 44-38 record, Golden State was the sixth seed in the previous season’s Western Conference Semifinals, where the Los Angeles Lakers defeated them in six games.
In 2022–2023 the Warriors did not appear to be strong title challengers, and this season has proven that it was not an anomaly. This team can no longer compete; it is just a fact.
A 123-111 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night meant the Warriors dropped to 36-33 in 2023-24. They are the 10th seed and the red-hot Houston Rockets are breathing down their necks. The Rockets are currently the 11th seed with a 34-35 record and have won nine of their last 10 games. They look set for another win against the Utah Jazz tonight and there is a real chance now that the Warriors might not even make the NBA Play-In Tournament.
