UPDATE:No.15 Texas Look To Bounce Back Against Texas state..

The No. 15 Texas Longhorns (7-2) had a rough start to the weekend in Houston as they lost 6-3 to the No. 3 LSU Tigers (9-1). They were completely outmatched.

The Longhorns were doomed from the start by a combination of starter Lebarron Johnson Jr.’s weak performance, the Tigers’ superior pitching staff, and the bats outside of Peyton Powell going cold.

They now prepare for their Saturday afternoon matchup against the Texas State Bobcats (6-3) in hopes of extending their winning streak. On Friday, the Bobcats had better fortune as they defeated the Houston Cougars in extra innings by hitting a walk-off home run.

This game is won by Texas State if…

Like it did for LSU, it can keep the bats of the Longhorns on the ice. Although Texas’ first-round victory over the Tigers, 6-3, appears close on paper, the evening was marked by a lackluster offensive effort. Peyton Powell accounted for three of the seven hits, and the lineup’s fight was far too late.
