UNBELIEVABLE: Tyreek Hill on verge of becoming first player in NFL history to pull off this improbable receiving feat

Many outstanding wide receivers have played in the NFL, but none have ever achieved what Tyreek Hill is about to.

Hill will have 1,700 receiving yards for the season if he finishes Sunday’s game against the Ravens with at least 59 yards. That would make Hill the first player in NFL history to hit that figure twice in his career, which is why it’s noteworthy. There are only 11 players who have ever concluded a season with 1,700 receiving yards or more, and none of them have ever accomplished this feat twice.

Hill’s career thus far has been really outstanding, especially considering that he is about to accomplish this. From Randy Moss to Calvin Johnson to Jerry Rice, the NFL has produced a number of outstanding receivers, but none of them has ever scored 1,700 yards twice in their career.

A very small number of receivers have even nearly hit the mark twice. Antonio Brown had two yards to spare in his two best seasons (1,834 yards and 1,698 yards), but he was only inches away from making it happen.

Not even NFL single-season record holder for most receiving yards, Calvin Johnson, was able to accomplish it. Despite breaking the NFL record in 2012 with 1,964 yards, he never finished a season with 1,700 yards (his second-best season was in 2011 with 1,681 yards).

Although many people believe that Jerry Rice is the best wide receiver in NFL history, the former 49ers wide receiver was unable to reach the 1,700-yard plateau twice in his playing career. Although Rice recorded 1,848 yards in 1995, his next-highest total was 1,570 yards in 1986.

Julio Jones also nearly reached 1,700 yards twice but was unable to complete the feat. After finishing with 1,871 yards in 2015 and nearly reaching 1,700 yards in 2018, the former Falcons receiver ended up falling 23 yards short in a year where he finished with 1,677 receiving yards.

The unexpected thing about Hill is that the two best seasons of his career will have been spent with the Dolphins if he manages to hit 1,700 yards once more. In his six years in Kansas City, Hill never reached 1,500 yards, even though he was teammates with Patrick Mahomes.

Despite the fact that Hill plays in 17 games this year as opposed to the aforementioned receivers’ 16 games, it should be remembered that Hill has missed a game this season, so it is likely that he will gain 1,700 yards in just 16 games.

Hill had set out to become the first man in NFL history to reach 2,000 receiving yards this season. While that may not have happened, he will likely be content to make history by becoming the first player to reach 1,700 yards twice in his career.
