Son Heung-min, who earned a draw against Manchester City today, was really impressed by a Tottenham Hotspur teammate.
Son and Dejan Kulusevski spoke with Sky Sports just after the match.
The Spurs captain also saved particular recognition for another winger, even though he was “very proud” of the Swede for this late strike.
Son was very moved by Brennan Johnson of Tottenham, a player he greatly admired, and his assist versus City.
“2-2, last ten minutes, I think everybody is going to give up here when you concede at 3-2, so I think we didn’t give up until the last whistle,” the skipper stated.
“Wow, what incredible work from Brennan. Deki obviously doesn’t typically score headers, but I’m really, really impressed of him for that cross inside the box.
“It’s a huge, huge point for the team and the players, and I think it will bring us so much for the season.”
Son, of course, also makes reference to how much momentum Spurs will accrue from their late comeback.
Ange Postecoglou has had a challenging few weeks, but they have already shown a lot about his Tottenham project.
Son Heung-min was incredibly pleased with Brennan Johnson of Tottenham against City.
Despite all of the misfortune, the new Spurs manager has steadfastly stuck to his principles.
Son was correct to commend Johnson because Tottenham didn’t sit deep against City even though they were without the most important pieces of their back line.
Johnson, despite his youth, embodies the optimism and tenacity of this young Spurs squad.
The winger, who cost £45 million when he signed in the summer, seems like a wise signing and the ideal representation of this new age.
Furthermore, Johnson might be challenging to replace in a few months due to his expected lengthy tenure on the team.
Kulusevski, Son, and Johnson as a front three seems capable of scoring a lot of goals; three at the Etihad is a prime example.
It wasn’t all easy sailing, as Jamie Carragher noted, as one Tottenham player had trouble passing.
However, all in all, it was a very good evening, just what was required before the hectic holiday season began.
