Steve Sarkisian Decides on Key Running Back Recruit and Lots More

The Texas Longhorns have been a powerhouse in the college football world for quite some time. However, over the last couple of years they have been getting closer and closer to the ultimate goal of winning a National Championship.

Steve Sarkisian has done an excellent job of recruiting since taking over the head coaching job. Not only has he done well at recruiting high school talent, he has also capitalized well on the transfer portal market. As of right now, the Longhorns have a very favorable outlook for years to come.

With that being said, the Longhorns are anxiously awaiting word on a decision from one of their top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.

That prospect is running back James Simon, who hails from Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. According to a report from Simon himself, he will reveal his decision on where to take his talents on May 29th. That day cannot get here soon enough for the Longhorns.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has the Texas Longhorns sitting at an 81.4 percent confident rating when it comes to Simon. While that is a great rating, Simon still has to make the decision himself.

Simon is a four-star recruit in the 2025 class and has garnered interest from quite a few teams around the nation. Along with the Longhorns, he is still considering Notre Dame, LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama. All four of those schools are powerhouses and provide a lot of intrigue for Simon to think about.

He is the No. 150 ranked prospect in the nation and ranks as the No. 9 running back in the class. In his home state of Louisiana, Simon ranks No. 4 overall.

247Sports has given the Longhorns three predictions of being able to secure Simon’s commitment. However, the LSU Tigers have been given four predictions. That alone has made fans worry that he could end up deciding against committing to Texas.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see whether or not the Longhorns are able to lock up a commitment with Simon. He would be a big addition to a backfield that has always been loaded with talent. Hopefully, they’ll hear some good news come May 29th.
