Adam Rank of NFL.com believes that Monday Night Football in Week 1 must feature the Wilson “revenge game.” Not doing so would be a disservice. An early season contest makes sense because there’s a chance Wilson will eventually be replaced as the starter by Justin Fields.

Payton rested Wilson for the last two games of the season. Wilson left Denver after a terrible two years because the two could never agree. Wilson’s release will cost the Broncos $85 million in dead money on their salary cap over the course of the following two seasons. Wilson is also receiving about $38 million from the Broncos to play for the Steelers, who will only offer him a veteran minimum deal for slightly more than $1 million.
