Sean Payton Describes How Bo Nix is like One Hall of Fame QB Already

Bo Nix was selected by the Denver Broncos in the 2024 NFL Draft, thus high hopes are in store for the rookie quarterback.

Though it wasn’t the idea, being the newest quarterback for the Denver Broncos comes with a cost. Being the quarterback who keeps the team afloat is a heavy burden. Since Payton Manning won them a Super Bowl in 2015, they have started 13 quarterbacks.

Although that’s not a terrific number, it appears that they haven’t been able to get the role down pat. Nix is under pressure to be the one who transforms everything, so that pressure is definitely present.

It also doesn’t help that Nix’s head coach, Sean Payton, is drawing parallels between him and another Hall of Fame player he coached in the past.

“All right, let’s search for commonalities. According to Payton, via DNVR Sports, “I would say that mentally, [Nix] wants to know as much and as fast as he can.” “Although [Nix] played 61 games in college, and when [the Saints] acquired Drew, it was after an injury and he was off his rookie deal, I believe there may be a maturity level.

They have distinct personalities,” Payton remarked. “Nix’s father is a coach. Drew was not a coach’s son by any means.”

The Broncos have surrounded Nix with some respectable weaponry. Troy Franklin, a wide receiver from his previous college squad, was also taken by them.

Around their rookie quarterback, the Broncos can have a respectable wide receiver group with Franklin, Tim Patrick, Marvin Mims, and Sutton. Now, I’m not saying that Nix will be Brees, but if they have weapons nearby, he has a strong possibility of being a good player who is skilled enough to be comparable to him.

Right now they do. But let’s slow down. This is a rookie who has yet to play a single snap in the NFL. So, let’s slow down with the comparisons. Either way, I think we are in for a decent rookie season in 2024.
