It looks like Trayce Jackson-Davis, a rookie power forward for the Warriors, was recently banned from France.
Jackson-Davis overcame the enormous 7-foot-4 rookie French sensation Victor Wembanyama with a powerful slam dunk during Golden State’s 112-102 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
Jackson-Davis was forced to the left of the former Indiana Hoosier by the potential Rookie of the Year as he guarded him at the 3-point line. Wembanyama, who recovered well and would have had a highlight block against any opponent without Jackson-Davis’s amazing athleticism, was surpassed by him.
Jackson-Davis, who was selected 57th overall in the second round of the previous year’s draft, had previously clowned around a Spurs defender. He applied the similar technique to forward Jeremy Sochan in the third quarter.
Wembanyama, who later said, “Getting dunked on is nothing,” seemed to take Jackson-Davis’s incredible dunk in stride. It’s just a part of the game,” the player said, “but on the plus side, I think I block more than I get dunked on.”
Wembanyama averaged 5.6 blocks per game before Monday night, and he leads the league in blocks (3.4 per game). Despite only having two in the end versus Golden State, he undoubtedly wished he had three.
