REPORT: Evans Excited By Brecel Partnership

Evans Is Happy With Brecel’s Collaboration

Reanne Evans is partnering with the current Crucible king at the World Mixed Doubles for the second season in a row. This time, 12-time Women’s World Champion Evans is eager to compete with Luca Brecel this Saturday on the baize. This weekend, Evans and Brecel take on the reigning champions Neil Robertson and Mink Nutcharut in an exciting matchup. This spectacular couples event at Manchester Central on March 30 and 31 still has tickets available.

Evans and seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan assembled a dream squad the previous season, but they were unable to get past the round-robin phase. Evans is optimistic that this time around she and Brecel will be able to compete for the crown.

“This is probably the only player I could be paired with that I might play more safety than,” Evans continued. This is a fantastic chance. Thoughts about tactics are fine, but you also need to play your natural game. The game is challenging enough as it is, without you having to question whether or not to pursue things. All I want is to go outside and have fun. I’m feeling strong and ready to go out there and, hopefully, win that trophy in the end. Evans acknowledges that although though they didn’t win the trophy they were hoping for, partnering with O’Sullivan at the event last season was an amazing experience.

“To be seated next to Ronnie is simply an honor. He is the greatest that has ever existed and that ever will. The fact that he is a regular person and human was fascinating. He said he didn’t know when to take his shots based on who he was following during our chats. Simply anything that was also on my mind. I was surprised by that. I get along with him, and together we play exhibitions. It was incredibly beneficial to hear his thought processes and to receive some wise advice. It is a privilege to collaborate with these athletes.
