The 2023 NFL season is entering the critical stage for teams trying to get into the postseason picture. One team that is firmly in the picture is the Baltimore Ravens, who are viewed by many as the best team in the AFC.
A lot of that has to do with the play of Lamar Jackson, but having a head coach like John Harbaugh always helps the cause as well. While the Ravens are stacked offensively, there have been rumblings that they could be looking to add another piece.
Zach Ertz was released by the Arizona Cardinals and is searching for a new home. The Ravens have been one of the teams most connected to him, along with teams like the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles. Baltimore would certainly be an intriguing landing spot for him.
In a recent quote, Harbaugh honestly spoke out about his thoughts on the possibility of adding Ertz to the roster. He seems to be interested, but made it very clear that he is happy with where the roster currently stands. Also, he slightly closed the door on the potential move.
“Any time a great player is out there, you look at it. But I would say this: we like our TEs. We really like our guys. I’m not ruling out Mark Andrews for down the road. … I think right now, we’ll just roll with those guys.”
If the Ravens are bowing out of the race, the Chiefs, Eagles, and Bills will be the top potential destinations for him. There are other teams who undoubtedly have interest, but those three teams all seem like serious contenders.
Ertz has played in seven games so far this season, catching 27 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. He may not have huge numbers, but he is more than capable of making an impact. On a team like the Chiefs where he would be the No. 2 tight end behind Travis Kelce, he could do some serious damage.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see where Ertz ends up. The Ravens may not be fully out of the running for him, but Harbaugh doesn’t seem to be giving it too much thought.
