There is a narrative out there surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders’ most polarizing player, Davante Adams, a guy who has been regarded as the league’s best receiver for most of his career. This year, that has been a bit different because, well, the offense has been terrible.
The bad offense has led to some players being disgruntled. And that disgruntledness has led to players leaving the locker room early, others speaking out during press conferences, and so on. We have seen a little bit of that from everyone this season, especially during the time that Josh McDaniels was head coach.
So, there has been a false narrative out there about Adams not being happy in Las Vegas. And I get how that can be misunderstood based on some of the actions we have seen, such as the cussing and slamming of equipment. But that is false; Davante Adams is not unhappy.
On Thursday Night Football, while the Raiders were scoring 63 pints, Davante Adams looked totally unhappy as he was on the sidelines dancing angrily. Hopefully, everyone can read the sarcasm.
“I was channeling my inner Marshawn; I know y’all remember him from the sideline in Oakland,” Adams told reporters in the locker room after the win. “It’s a good feeling to go out there and have some fun regardless of personal success, or whatever it is, that is the type of feeling you want to have on the sideline. When all three phases can come together and play like that, it makes it fun.”
It is clear that Adams gets frustrated, but he had moments like that in Green Bay as well, and they were competing for a Super Bowl every single year. He knows what he signed up for, and he is happy to be playing for the team he grew up rooting for. I’d say all that other stuff is just the competitive fire that comes with it.
