Amidst the absence of Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors, the San Antonio Spurs emerged victorious on Saturday in NBA play, winning 126-113 in the end.
For the first time since late January, the Spurs ended a losing trend and defeated the Warriors back-to-back games thanks to some outstanding efforts from their players.
With 22 points and 11 rebounds, Keldon Johnson led the Spurs and made a big impact on the win. The depth of quality in the Spurs’ roster was evident as Julian Champagnie shined with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jeremy Sochan and Malaki Branham each contributed 20 points.
“It was crucial to maintain the momentum right away, particularly when playing teams and environments like Golden State and San Francisco,” Sochan stated.
Curry wasn’t playing, but Klay Thompson filled in nicely for the Warriors, scoring 27 points off the bench. Despite Jonathan Kuminga’s impressive effort, which included 26 points mostly from attacking the basket, the Warriors were unable to offset Curry’s absence of 26.9 points per game.
Kuminga reflected on the Warriors’ attempt to wriggle back into the game, saying, “The second half we tried to do our best to get back in the game.” “It was a little after midnight.”
The Spurs demonstrated their ability to shoot, especially from beyond the arc, as they went 17 for 33 overall with five 3-pointers from Champagnie and four from Johnson. A club that has had trouble shooting 3-pointers this season saw a huge improvement after this performance.
