With one win apiece in the head-to-head category, the division winner could come down to tiebreakers; that is, unless one of the two teams struggles down the stretch.
Which team is more likely to falter under pressure in Week 15? The NFC East race has tightened considerably more than many had predicted. The Eagles, who led comfortably throughout the majority of the season, have lost two games in a row and have given up the East lead.
The Cowboys’ offense has been on fire since their bye week. Over the last seven games, Dallas has outscored its opponents 267-133, going 6-1. potentially ranking third among wide receivers in the NFL is wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, while quarterback Dak Prescott leads the league in touchdowns scored with 28 and is potentially a candidate for MVP.
Additionally, Prescott is handling the ball far better than he did the previous year. In just 12 games in 2022, Prescott threw 15 interceptions. With 13 games completed this season, Prescott has only six.
In Week 15, Dallas plays Buffalo, which is home to a struggling Bills club in contrast to previous years when they were viewed as a sure thing to make the playoffs and a strong candidate for the AFC’s top seed.
Josh Allen, the quarterback, has not been as successful as he was in previous years. With 14 interceptions in 14 games, Allen and Sam Howell of Washington are tied for the league lead. Since Week 4, Allen has thrown at least one interception in each game. Throughout the season, he has only had two games without an interception.
With corner DaRon Bland recording five pick-6s and a league-high eight interceptions, the Cowboys have the second-best points differential in the NFL. While the Bills have taken two fewer possessions than Dallas this season, they have also committed ten more turnovers.
In the meanwhile, the Eagles head west to Seattle, where they are 7-12 all-time and have not won since 2008. At Lumen Field, Philadelphia has only won twice in total.
The Eagles’ once-strong point is now one of their weaknesses. The Philadelphia defense, which has the fifth-worst pass defense in the NFL, has allowed 75 points to Dallas and San Francisco over the past two games.
With just two healthy safety on the roster at the moment, the pass defense is vulnerable, something the Seattle passing game might exploit.
If Dallas has its way on Sunday, the Cowboys will easily defeat Buffalo while the Seahawks—who, regrettably, have already dropped four straight games—will inflict the Eagles their third consecutive defeat.
Dallas would then have control of the NFC East, a potential inside track to the top seed in the NFC and a first-round playoff bye.
