Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier provided an update on Tuesday regarding the team’s pursuit of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Grier revealed that the Dolphins recently made an offer to Beckham Jr., although he indicated that the negotiations are not progressing towards a deal.
Grier’s comments come after Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill sparked speculation about Beckham Jr. joining the team by posting a Snapchat photo of himself embracing OBJ.
Head coach Mike McDaniel had previously mentioned in late March that Beckham Jr. had visited the team and that the discussions went well. The Dolphins even extended a contract offer to Beckham Jr. during his visit, but he left without signing.
Beckham Jr. signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens in April 2023 but was released in mid-March following a season where he recorded 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games.
Miami’s receiving corps is currently anchored by Hill and star wideout Jaylen Waddle, who combined for 191 receptions, 2,813 yards, and 17 touchdowns in 2023.
However, the team may be seeking additional depth at the position beyond these two key players, given the lack of significant production from other wide receivers last season.
