Following the departure of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, Luke Littler makes a strong appeal to him.
Luke Littler has stated that, should former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard extend an invitation to him, he would gladly participate in this year’s Soccer Aid. The darts sensation is willing to trade in the oche for the pitch in order to help generate money for charity, despite leading an extremely busy life on the professional tour and with his many media obligations.
Soccer Aid is making an emotional return to Stamford Bridge for Lampard, who departed his position as the Blues’ interim manager just under a year ago prior to the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino. In a World XI led by Eden Hazard, the former manager of Everton and Derby will share co-management of the England team with his uncle Harry Redknapp.
Littler also promised to play if asked, so Lampard and Redknapp might have him available for the yearly charity match. The 17-year-old goalie for his school team had played football until the age of 12, at which point he switched his focus to darts. However, he asked not to be in the goal against famous football players and celebrities.
“100%,” Littler replied to the question of whether he would be interested in participating in Soccer Aid on June 9 on JaackMaate’s Happy Hour podcast. “If they are watching, please let me in. I’ve noticed they only have around ten people down. If I play for Soccer Aid, I will not be playing in goal. Right away.”
Littler would join an England team that includes Jack Wilshere, Stuart Broad, Paddy McGuinness, Jack Wilshere, Sir Mo Farah, and Joe Cole if Lampard called him up. The team would play against a World XI headed by Pochettino and featuring players like Hazard, Usain Bolt, Tommy Fury, and Roberto Carlos.
