NEWS JUST IN: Klay Thompson of Worrior Strongly Reacts to Being Benched in Suns Loss

Steve Kerr, the head coach, benched Klay Thompson during the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Phoenix Suns.

At 6:19 in the fourth quarter, Thompson was substituted out, and the Warriors were never the same.

Following the Warriors-Suns game, Thompson remarked, “Of course it frustrates me.” Do you really think I’m going to relax? I’m a really competitive person. Ultimately, I rank among the most competitive individuals to wear this uniform. I also have confidence in saying that. Well, anything. Apparently, I forgot to bring it tonight. I was worthy of it.

Thompson finished with seven points and five rebounds against the Suns while shooting 2-of-10 from the field, 1-of-8 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. The Warriors, who lost by three points, finished the game with Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga and Dario Saric.

Thompson said, “I deserved to be benched tonight,” to reporters from the Warriors. “I performed poorly. If you’ve ever played hoops, you are aware of your potential. You want to be competing everywhere you go. That is simply reality. Still, whatever. It takes place. I was worthy of being benched. I have not been playing well. After twenty games. I still can’t get a decent rhythm. However, acknowledge our (Warriors) bench. They had fantastic play. Young men are taking initiative.

The Warriors’ record for the season is 10-13. According to the Western Conference standings, they are in 11th position. In 22 games with the Warriors, Thompson is averaging 15.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 39.7% from the field, 34.3% from beyond the arc, and 88.9% from the foul line.

After this season, Thompson becomes an unrestricted free agent. With Thompson, the Warriors, who have won four NBA titles under the tandem of Stephen Curry, Raymond Green, and Thompson, will have to make a difficult choice.
