Maxx Crosby Raiders’ nominee for Walter Payton Man of Year award

Maxx Crosby is a bright light for the Las Vegas Raiders on and off the field. Tuesday morning, Crosby was recognized for his value to the franchise as he was named the Raiders’ nominee for this year’s NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award. It is the most prestigious award given every year.

The award, named after the Chicago Bears’ Hall of Fame running back who died in 1999, honors a player for who both excels on the field and shows a passion for leaving a legacy that goes beyond the playing field as the great Payton did.

NFL announced the 32 nominees for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. The award is the league’s most prestigious honor and acknowledges NFL players who excel on the field and demonstrate a passion for creating a lasting impact beyond the game.

The winner of the award will be announced in February shortly before the Super Bowl is played in Las Vegas.

Perhaps Crosby will pull of the hometown victory for the award. The award began in 1969 (before the Payton honor, of course). One Raiders has won it, George Blanda in 1974.
