The Habs will have to make some significant decisions at training camp, as you and I both know. A lot of defenseman will be vying for a spot in the starting lineup.

Furthermore, as of the last time I checked, one club in the NHL did not have 13 defenseman playing every night.
Logan Mailloux is among the cases that are the most intriguing. After all, among the prospects without NHL experience, the right-hander is arguably the most similar to an NHL player.
Three years ago, he was even drafted because of his excellent performance in Laval. Did I also mention that he uses his right hand?
Gaston Therrien believes the defenceman should play his entire upcoming season in Montreal. He thinks that now is the right time to start playing for him in the National Hockey League since he is skilled, quick, and more of a defensive player than he ever was.
He said as much to L’Antichambre yesterday.
He believed that if he played in the NHL without using a first pair, he would have more time to adjust to the game. It’s quite obvious that he wants to see him succeed in the NHL.
Of course, his upcoming camp and the completion of his season in Laval (will he be called up at some time in the next two weeks?) will be crucial.
He is right not to be able to unseat David Savard unless and until it is shown differently. But as you and I both know, injuries and the trade market have the power to alter the Quebecer’s situation.
Lefties can play on the right, and Jonathan Kovacevic is also in Montreal (for the time being).
A young player on the right will need to overcome David Reinbacher if there is room for him (what are the Habs’ plans for him next season?) and Justin Barron, who will need to clear waivers in order to attend Laval next year.
To put it briefly, Mailloux needs to be strong to get into the starting lineup.
