Linebacker Patrick Queen will start a new chapter in his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a bitter rival of the Baltimore Ravens, after four years with the Ravens.
Many people reacted to Queen’s signing with the Steelers, but none were quite as funny as Lamar Jackson’s, which is from out of Tiki Barber’s book.
“@Patrickqueen_To us, Queen, you are dead. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player wished his now-former Ravens buddy success and stated, “You’re dead to me.”
By bringing up Barber’s recent comment over Saquon Barkley leaving the New York Giants to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, the quarterback for the Ravens was clearly teasing Queen.
Queen will be joining linebackers T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith at the Steelers, a trio that should cause issues for Jackson’s defensive backfield.
Queen signed a three-year, $41 million contract with the Steelers in the midst of the 2024 NFL free agency period. Queen was chosen by the Ravens with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Queen recorded four interceptions, fifteen passes defensed, five forced fumbles, one3.5 sacks, thirty-three quarterback hits, and four54 combined tackles in 67 games while wearing the Ravens uniform. Queen, an LSU Tiger, was selected to his first-ever Pro Bowl during his final season with the Ravens.
Jackson and Baltimore should be alright and still be considered a serious Super Bowl candidate even after losing Queen. In 2023, the Ravens finished first in the AFC North with a 13-4 record. They advanced to the AFC Conference Championship round but were defeated by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
