According to NFL Network on Sunday, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are anticipated to negotiate a long-term contract extension during the offseason, which would make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.
As the last season of a four-year, $160 million contract deal that he signed in 2021, Prescott would have a $59.455 million salary-cap hit in 2024.
In addition, Prescott is eligible for a $5 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2019–20 season.
Following his November NFC Offensive Player of the Month award, Prescott completed 29 of 41 throws for 299 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday in Dallas’ 41-35 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
“I understand nobody’s opinion defines me, that’s the great part about life and that’s the great opportunity that we all have, that people can say whatever they want, but you know I have the pen, I have the paper and I’m the one writing,” Prescott said to reporters on Thursday. “So, because I’m playing as well as I am now doesn’t mean I’m going to stop, doesn’t mean I’m going to listen to them now.”
This season, Prescott, 30, is completing a career-high 70.1 percent of his throws. In 12 games, he has passed for 3,234 yards, 26 touchdowns, which leads the league, and six interceptions.
Having been selected by Dallas in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott has a 70-39 record in 109 career starts and has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice. In addition to 192 touchdowns and 71 interceptions, he has passed for 28,177 yards.
