The Philadelphia Phillies have consistently demonstrated their willingness to shell out cash for elite free agents. If adding him will improve the Phillies, there’s a good chance Dave Dombrowski will follow suit.
Early in the offseason, Aaron Nola was already re-signed by Philadelphia. Their top priority was him, and the team completed the task.
But now that Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Japanese phenom, is available, the team is anticipated to pursue him this offseason.
The Phillies are reportedly considering a play for the right-hander, according to Jon Heyman.
“The other three teams I’ve heard about are the Phillies, Blue Jays, and Red Sox. Thus, the Dodgers, Giants, Mets, and Yankees will now have three new teammates. A selection of seven teams. Perhaps one or two more. The Cardinals and the Cubs haven’t been on my radar lately. I could argue that he is becoming too wealthy, but I believe that the fact that he hasn’t really discussed money with anyone could indicate that he is merely trying to find a team on the coast.”
Heyman has some very important news to share. Not much has been said about Yamamoto joining the Phillies since the initial rumors surfaced when Nola was a free agent.
This makes the report a little unexpected.
Assisting Philadelphia with their pitching is always a plus. This is a team that has shown it can win when it counts most, and they become even more formidable with the addition of another elite arm.
Although it’s doubtful if the Phillies will shell out as much money as it might take to acquire him, there’s no reason to think they won’t, given their track record as big spenders in recent years.
