After just 13 games with the Baltimore Ravens, Todd Monken has already helped the team’s offensive rise to the fourth-best spot in the NFL (27.8 points per game).
Lamar Jackson, the quarterback to whom Monken handed the offensive keys during training camp, is partially to blame for that. The Ravens are putting themselves in a good position for a Super Bowl matchup as they have won seven of their last eight games.
In Week 14’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore needed overtime to overcome Sean McVay’s squad. However, late in the fourth quarter, Jackson led the team on a 15-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, which gave Baltimore a three-point lead.
Considering Lamar’s self-assurance, Monken believes he can handle any crunch situation.
Monken remarked, “To start with, he’s already very confident in his ability.” He’s one of the few individuals I’ve met who enjoys playing football; he’s passionate about the game and enjoys playing it. From what I’ve observed—I’ve only been here for 13 games—those situations never get too large for him. It doesn’t feel that way, though. It goes without saying that the more times you succeed, the more confident you feel as though you can succeed at anything.
As things stand, the Ravens are in control of their postseason fate; if they win out, Baltimore will host the Super Bowl. Though in principle that sounds fantastic, Jackson’s Ravens still have a few difficult assignments to do.
Baltimore currently appears to be in control, but in the upcoming weeks, that might change pretty rapidly as they play the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins.
However, the Ravens will always like their chances of making a deep playoff run with a “rare guy” like Lamar Jackson. Additionally, every week that Jackson continues to demonstrate his ability to step up in crucial situations, Baltimore will always feel like they’re in the game.
It is a valuable quality to possess come playoff time.
