Ace CC Sabathia, who has four years and $92 million left on his current contract, has until today to choose whether to accept the Yankees’ offer of a new one. Speaking on condition of anonymity because no specifics were disclosed, the person involved with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Sunday that the offer was made over the weekend. Before the 2009 season, Sabathia signed a $161 million, seven-year contract with New York. He has since gone 59-23 with a 3.18 ERA in the regular season. The 31-year-old left-hander would be the best pitcher available as a free agent if he chooses to opt out.
