49ers contract negotiations have ‘intensified’ amid trade rumors around Brandon Aiyuk
Aiyuk is apparently hoping to get close to the $28 million AAV Amon-Ra St. Brown is expected to earn with the Detroit Lions, having had two seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards—including a career-high 1,342 in 2023. During training camp, the 49ers have other issues to resolve besides Aiyuk’s contract. In addition, the team must decide what to do with left tackle Trent Williams, who, in contrast to Aiyuk, has not been showing up to practices at all due to his own contract dispute. Williams wants to have his contract reworked even though he still has three years left on it. According to Fowler, Williams’ holdout may encourage the 49ers to consider trade proposals for Aiyuk. The 49ers have already promised George at least $15 million annually.
