Free agent safety Micah Hyde might need to rethink his plans for next season because Josh Allen wants him back with the Buffalo Bills. Allen, along with several Bills players, attended his charity softball game at Sahlen Field on Sunday afternoon.
Despite Hyde’s decision to explore other opportunities, he remains a respected figure in Buffalo. His former teammates, especially Allen, seem keen on his return.
With Jordan Poyer’s departure, the Bills have a revamped backfield for the 2024 season. Having Hyde, a familiar face, would be advantageous for Allen.
After the game, fans chanted “One more year,” led by Allen. The chant persisted until Hyde took the microphone and playfully responded.
“Okay, okay. Alright, we will have the softball game one more time, okay? We will do it one more time,” Hyde said.
Allen teased him about staying with the Bills, but Hyde cleverly shifted the focus back to the softball game. The 27-year-old Allen would be thrilled if Hyde decided to return to Orchard Park.

During the event, the two-time second-team All-Pro shared his wish to wear the Bills’ blue and white again in 2024. In an interview with WIVB-4, the 33-year-old Hyde said:
“I’m enjoying my time with the family. And if there’s a case where I can get back on the football field, I would love to do it. Especially in this uniform.”
Hyde played 14 games in 2023 after missing the previous season due to a neck injury. He participated in 92% of the defensive snaps, recording 54 tackles and two interceptions for Sean McDermott’s defense.
When asked about the possibility of returning to the Bills, Hyde responded positively:
“It would mean the world to me and my family to be able to do that. But you know, it’s a ways away.”
One thing is clear: Poyer will not return to Buffalo as he has signed with the Miami Dolphins. Poyer participated in the charity softball game, which raised over $625,000.
