Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman remains upbeat and enthusiastic, win or lose. This was evident after the team’s 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 4 on Sunday.
The Bruins are facing their second elimination scenario of this postseason. They were pushed to a Game 7 by the Toronto Maple Leafs but eventually won 2-1 in overtime on May 4 to advance. Just as he did after the Bruins’ Game 5 loss to the Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Swayman predicted a victory for the Bruins in Game 5 of their second-round series against the Panthers.
“There’s a lot of confidence and motivation in this room,” said Swayman, who made 38 saves in Game 4. “I’m excited to go to Florida and bring it back to Boston.”
Channeling his inner Mark Messier, Swayman guaranteed that the Bruins would force a Game 6 at TD Garden on Friday night.
“It’s playoff hockey,” Swayman continued. “We need to believe it because it’s our reality. We’re going to Florida, playing our game, and getting it done. I have no doubt about this group. We have a lot of confidence and motivation to bring it back to Boston because our fans deserve better. We’re excited to do that.”
Despite Swayman’s confidence, his previous guarantee that the Bruins would win Game 6 against the Maple Leafs in Toronto didn’t come true. Still, his confidence and swagger are admirable for a 25-year-old.
