INJURY UPDATE: Safety Kyle Hamilton of the Ravens disclosed

The Baltimore Ravens have been severely impacted by injuries lately. Every year, they lose important players on both sides of the ball, which tests the depth of their roster.

This season has been no exception as running back J.K. Dobbins and tight end Mark Andrews have both sustained injuries that are likely to be season-ending. Defensively, the team has dealt with numerous absences during the season, including pass rusher Odafe Oweh and safety Marcus Williams missing significant amounts of play, and pass rusher David Ojabo is probably going to be sidelined for the entire campaign.

The Ravens would lose another key player when they played the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14. The extent of the injury that forced safety Kyle Hamilton to leave the game on Sunday afternoon has been made public.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Hamilton has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 MCL sprain. That is excellent news for Hamilton and the Ravens, as there is a chance the emerging star safety doesn’t miss any time at all.

In Year 2, Hamilton, a 2022 NFL Draft first-round selection out of Notre Dame, has been having a breakthrough campaign. The Ravens selected the No. 14 overall pick because of his versatility and playmaking, and he has started all 13 games for the team.

Having played 93% of the defensive snaps, he has already exceeded all of his rookie-season stats. Hamilton has accumulated 69 tackles in those plays, including four quarterback hits, three sacks, nine tackles for loss, and seven quarterback pressures overall. In addition, he has two interceptions—one of which went for a pick-six—and nine passes defensed.

One of the top young safeties in the NFL is rapidly developing into the former Notre Dame standout. Given how many different roles he plays for the Ravens, his loss would have been difficult for them to overcome.

Hamilton has lined up along the defensive line, in the box, as a slot corner and free safety thus far this season. He is a versatile weapon that provides the Ravens’ defense with some flexibility as he can fill several roles and excel in each of them.
