The Boston Celtics lost their final game against the Atlanta Hawks despite leading by thirty points at the half. Jaylen Brown responded to this by giving a frank and scathing assessment of their collapse throughout the game.
The Hawks won that game 120-118 because the Celtics threw away a 30-point advantage. Atlanta’s attack was led by De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, who scored 24 and 22 points, respectively, against Boston. In addition, Dejounte Murray contributed 19 points and 15 assists against the NBA’s third-ranked defense.
In the meantime, Jayson Tatum, who finished with 37 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, was largely responsible for the Celtics’ offensive output. Against the Hawks, Kristaps Porzingis scored 17 points and Jaylen Brown added 24 points.
With a 57-15 record, the Celtics managed to cling onto the number one slot despite their loss. Atlanta, on the other hand, has 32 wins and 39 losses and is still in 10th place. As things stand, Boston has already guaranteed a postseason berth, and the Hawks are expected to compete in the Play-In Tournament.
Tatum expressed his annoyance to reporters following the game for letting the Hawks close the gap despite having a 30-point advantage. Brown, for his part, expressed the same sentiments in a video that Noa Dalzell uploaded on X when he spoke to the media.
Given that they were playing a struggling Hawks team sans All-Star guard Trae Young, Brown’s evaluation of their performance was accurate given that they had a more talented squad. Their loss to Atlanta is even more devastating because their offense and defense rank in the top five in the league.
