The Phillies of Philadelphia have the opportunity to let some of their prospects to grow in the lower leagues. It’s difficult for younger players to gain a chance on this club because of the great and experienced lineup.
Prospects who can benefit the club, though, are valuable for a variety of reasons.
Philadelphia will have to make moves if they are to win a World Series. Having the potential to move is essential for them, even if they are tiny trades. Prospects must develop and step up to temporarily fill in for injured players if a major league team needs relief.
Other teams in contention lack that luxury, but the Phillies have the ideal combination. The major league team is good enough to allow them to grow, and if they were to suffer injuries, the prospects could step up and support them.
Jim Callis and Sam Dykstra of MLB.com identified the players expected to excel in 2024, including Nikau Pouaka-Grego, the No. 26-ranked prospect for Philadelphia.
