On Christmas, the 11-3 Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers, who lead their respective conferences, square battle on Monday night. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Ravens did hear some encouraging news about rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers on Monday morning. Despite his injuries, he was able to practice and is expected to be fit for the game.
The Boston College rookie, chosen by the Ravens with the 23rd overall pick, has excelled this season. In addition to setting franchise records with 65 catches for 680 yards, he has scored three touchdowns and another in the rushing game. Additionally, he has participated in all 14 games this season, which is fantastic news for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, particularly in light of the problems that the running back room is dealing with and the probable season-ending injury that Mark Andrews sustained in November.
The Ravens had won four straight games going into their game against the 49ers. Flowers, on the other hand, was virtually invisible in the victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, managing just one reception for seven yards on two targets. With the Miami Dolphins trailing the Ravens with an 11-4 record, the Ravens need to win to stay atop the AFC. Hopefully, he can recover against the excellent 49ers defense.
The good thing about all of this, though, is that Flowers should be available for Monday night’s game in the Bay Area against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens—possibly a Super Bowl preview.
