Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the Miami Dolphins’ receiving combination, is currently among the finest in the NFL, but they could use some depth behind them.
It appears that the Dolphins are aware of this, as they met with Odell Beckham Jr. a few weeks ago and made an offer for a contract, which Beckham declined.
Although there are still a few wide receivers available, Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network believes Miami should pursue Tyler Boyd.
Despite having just had a successful 2023 season with the Cincinnati Bengals, when he played in every game and caught 67 passes for 667 yards and two scores, Boyd is curiously still available on the free-agent market.
The University of Pittsburgh is where the 29-year-old played his collegiate football before being taken by the Bengals in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Boyd had a rather unremarkable first few seasons of his career before breaking out in 2018 with 76 receptions for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns. Boyd was even better the next year, catching 90 passes for 1,046 yards and five touchdowns.
Since then, Boyd has not hit 1,000 yards, but he has hit over 800 yards Twice, the most recent being in 2021 when he caught 67 passes for 828 yards and made five trips to the end zone.
It should be mentioned that Boyd’s decline in statistical production can be explained by the fact that he has been Cincinnati’s third-best receiver for the last three seasons, behind Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
Boyd is unquestionably a dependable option in the aerial attack, and he might fit right in with the Dolphins’ already potent passing game.
