Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors are far from championship contenders currently. However, this could change if they reunite in the offseason.
Durant first sought a championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2015-16 season, reaching the NBA Finals alongside James Harden, Serge Ibaka, and Russell Westbrook, but losing to the Miami Heat’s trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
After losing to the Warriors in the 2016 playoffs, Durant joined them the next year, securing two championships and Finals MVPs. Their attempt for a third consecutive title ended in defeat by the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
Durant then signed with the Brooklyn Nets, but unlike his successful tenure with the Warriors, he hasn’t found playoff success. Recently, his Phoenix Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves, sparking speculation about his future.
A potential trade could see Durant returning to the Warriors. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report suggests a trade involving Durant for Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and a 2025 first-round pick. This trade could benefit both teams by making them competitive again and creating a compelling storyline for Durant.
As the offseason approaches, Durant’s next move, whether staying in Phoenix or being traded, will be closely watched.
