The NFL Combine officially wrapped up this last weekend which means 2024 NFL mock drafts are going to start rolling in at a rapid pace. Georgia football had eleven players represent their program at the combine and it was yet another solid showcase from the group.
ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid released a two-round mock draft following the combine, and he had four Georgia players coming off the board within the first 40 picks. Here is where he had each former Bulldog slotted at:
While Bowers did not do any testing this weekend at the combine, it still felt like he solidified himself as the clear-cut best player at his position. There has been some back-and-forth conversation regarding whether or not a team will use a top-10 pick on Bowers, but nobody will bat an eye if a team does go that route. The Chargers are looking to add some young offensive talent to their roster to pair alongside their franchise quarterback Justin Herbert, and that would certainly make the former Georgia tight end a great fit under newly hired head coach Jim Harbaugh.
They may not draft them as frequently as the Philadelphia Eagles, but the Pittsburgh Steelers drafting a former Bulldogs fits their tendencies. Oddly enough, the Steelers selected former Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones in the first round of last year’s draft, so perhaps they pull the trigger a second time. Mims was putting together what was looking like a fantastic combine performance up until he injured himself during the 40-yard event on his second attempt, which cut his day short. Despite that, teams love the size and the ceiling, making him worth the first-round selection
Another Bulldog will be joining Bowers in LA, according to this mock draft. Lassiter didn’t participate in the 40-yard event at the combine, but it was a respectable weekend for the former Bulldog. Unfortunately for Lassiter, he is in a loaded-down defensive back class this year, which is what has caused some to push him out of the first round. It has nothing to do with his talent or lack thereof, just simply not enough picks to squeeze him in. There’s still a solid chance that Lassiter ends up in the first round, as his college tape tells you he is worthy of such.
Wrapping up the mock draft for the Georgia Bulldogs is McConkey going to the Titans right after Lassiter went off the board. Oddly enough, the Titans are the team Bowers said he would like to end up at this year’s draft. The organization could be looking to pair up some young talent alongside second-year quarterback Will Levis, and McConkey is as versatile as it gets at the position. While it may not be the most ideal landing spot from an offensive personnel standpoint and based on the outlook of the Titans right now, McConkey likely wouldn’t mind getting to play close to home in the NFL.
