This season, the Baltimore Ravens’ top-ranked run offense has been led by Gus Edwards.
With 1,903 running yards, the Ravens lead the league; 590 of those yards have come from Edwards. Along with his 10 rushing touchdowns, the fifth-year running back is third among all running backs this season behind Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers and Raheem Mostert of the Miami Dolphins (13) and 11.
Edwards’ outstanding season with Baltimore has impressed former All-Pro running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who penciled him in at No. 9 on his “NFL RB Index” for Week 13.
“The Ravens’ top-ranked rushing attack has relied on a host of running backs and despite Keaton Mitchell having the hot hand of late, Gus Edwards is still the guy in the red zone,” wrote Jones-Drew. “The veteran is one of three running backs with double-digit TD runs this season, with nine of them in the last six games.”
The remainder of the year will see a lot of testing for Edwards. All told, three of Baltimore’s five remaining games will be against opponents who are currently among the top 10 in the league for the amount of rushing yards allowed per contest.
In Week 14, the Ravens will take on the Los Angeles Rams, who have given up 113.3 rushing yards per game on average this year.
