The Green Bay Packers are going to have a much different culture this year, specifically on the defense. While there were some significant player personnel changes on the offensive side of the ball (the departures of David Bakhtiari and Aaron Jones), there has been more changes regarding coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
Following the season, Joe Barry, the former defensive coordinator, was let go. Following him went the other defensive coordinators, notably Jerry Montgomery, the team’s longest-tenured coach, who oversaw the defensive line.
Since taking over as defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley, a former Boston College head coach, has been making all the right noises about wanting to see a more aggressive defense with an emphasis on dominating front seven play.
For Packers supporters and players, who are hoping to avoid the disaster that was the defensive locker room during the previous season, this is welcome news.
