On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee, during the first period of an NHL hockey game, Chicago Blackhawks left wing Taylor Hall, right, moves the puck past Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (59).
CHICAGO (AP) — Taylor Hall, a forward for the Blackhawks, will likely miss the remainder of the 2018 NHL MVP season due to surgery on his right knee.
On Thursday, the team placed forward Andreas Athanasiou and Hall on injured reserve. With Athanasiou’s groin injury, the move was made retroactive to November 9. Joey Anderson and Cole Guttman, forwards in the American Hockey League, were called up from Rockford.
Chicago, in last place, has lost five straight games coming up against visiting Toronto on Friday.
Hall will undergo ACL surgery, according to coach Luke Richardson.
“He feels really let down,” Richardson remarked. However, it was simply the result of several minor injuries that occurred during the game and even during practice the other day. It suddenly became unstable, so we need to fix it right away.
In a trade with Boston, the 32-year-old Hall—who was chosen by Edmonton with the first overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft—was obtained just before Chicago selected Connor Bedard with the first pick in this year’s draft.
A left shoulder injury that he sustained at the beginning of the season hindered Hall, who was brought in to help provide some leadership and scoring alongside Bedard.
On November 9, Hall was struck by Michael Eyssimont of Tampa Bay, resulting in a knee injury. After making a comeback to Nashville last weekend, he participated in two games before missing Wednesday night’s 7-3 loss to Columbus.
He was just pulled down by a guy. Richardson stated, “It was a nothing play, and the way he fell on it was kind of the last straws.” After that, he made an effort to get through it, but in reality, he simply hit a rut that ultimately defeated him.
In ten games this season, Hall has two goals and two assists. In his 14 NHL seasons, he has recorded 266 goals and 431 assists while also representing Edmonton, New Jersey, Boston, Arizona, and Buffalo.
“It’s devastating,” Bedard remarked. “Someone who is so passionate about hockey, makes every game so memorable, is not only a great player but also a wonderful person who means a lot to our team.
We are aware that he will continue to be active and, naturally, a vital member of the group.
Richardson refused to discuss the matter, and Blackhawks forward Corey Perry was a healthy scratch for the team’s defeat to the Blue Jackets.
He declared, “Right now, we’re going to keep that internal in the organization.” “I’m not able to respond to any more inquiries about that.”
In a trade with Tampa Bay in June, Perry was acquired. He then consented to sign a one-year, $4 million contract with the Blackhawks. In 16 games, he has four goals and five assists.
“Remember that he isn’t with us. As for information, we really don’t have any, said teammate Nick Foligno. “It is regrettable. He will be missed because he is a major part of this. However, we haven’t actually learned anything more.
