Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins, expressed his admiration for Lamar Jackson, saying the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens is almost unmatched in NFL history.
Jackson, according to Fangio, is not even comparable to other mobile quarterbacks of today. He could only think of Michael Vick as a comparable, at least from the last fifty years.
“Yeah, fair share mobile quarterbacks? Yes. Then there’s Lamar Jackson,” Fangio said on Thursday, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “He’s unlike anybody else. The only other player that’s been like him in the last 50 years is Michael Vick. He’s a tremendous player. Kudos to Ozzie (Newsome) and Eric (DeCosta) for picking him. Thirty-one other teams that passed him by are kicking themselves. He’s really improved over the years. Dynamic with the ball. Good passer. He makes their offense go.”
MVP talk is intensifying for Jackson as he keeps becoming better at everything and discrediting his detractors. He enters Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with 3,357 passing yards, 786 rushing yards, and 24 touchdowns overall. Against the Dolphins, he may truly cement his MVP dreams with a good effort.
Since 1986, Fangio has been an NFL coach. This is great feedback because he is knowledgeable.
