Champions League club ready to pay £15 million for Man City defender

One UEFA Champions League team has informed Manchester City that they would be willing to approve a sizeable transfer fee for right-back Issa Kabore.

The Burkina Faso international was passed over for a spot in the squad for their USA tour after returning to the City Football Academy last week for the start of preseason training with Pep Guardiola and his youthful group.

Given that Kabore was left off the squad for Manchester City’s first preseason friendly against Celtic in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Rico Lewis was used in the right-back position, it is now anticipated that the Englishman will participate in the remaining three matches.

After playing two more friendlies against FC Barcelona and Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester City will now travel to New York City for a meeting against AC Milan on Saturday night.

But given the amount of interest that Kabore has had this summer from possible suitors around the game—a new report outlines just how much—the African right-back’s absence from the squad may have been due to that.

Galatasaray is now willing to pay a £15 million transfer price for Issa Kabore, but they are currently attempting to negotiate a lesser sell-on clause from 20% down to 12%, according to information provided by Manchester City insider “Tolmie’s Hairdoo” on X.

MailSport’s Jack Gaughan revealed interest in the defender earlier this week. Gaughan also revealed interest in Yan Couto, a highly-regarded young right-back for Manchester City and a current senior international for Brazil.

Some had urged Yan Couto to earn a spot in Manchester City’s starting lineup after his stellar La Liga loan season the previous year, which helped Girona qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Though Borussia Dortmund is now thought to be the most interested club, it is anticipated that a permanent departure will be approved this summer, if a prospective suitor matches the player’s Manchester City valuation.
