Former Hoops star, Tosh McKinlay was on hand today (Wednesday) to represent Celtic FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club in presenting another significant donation of £7,000 to fund this year’s Taxis Outing to Troon for hundreds of very deserving children.
The event has run for well over 70 years now and is one of the city’s best known charitable occasions. Celtic has enjoyed an association with the charity and the event for more than 20 years, donating around £200,000 during this time.
The colourful convoy of hundreds of black cabs departed from the West End and set off for Troon in Ayrshire as, once more, hundreds of children will enjoy a fun-packed day at the coast.
Tosh McKinlay said: “We feel really lucky to be part of this great event again, it is a fantastic occasion which really does bring so much joy to so many deserving children and their families.
“Our Foundation always aims to support our local community and the outing is hugely important to us.
“In particular, the drivers who give up their time to help so many kids deserve massive congratulations and thanks.
“The support which Celtic has donated over so many years is very well spent and has meant thousands of children and their families receive much needed support.
“Celtic was formed in 1888 to help to assist those in need and to make a positive difference to the lives of others and the event we are supporting today embodies that ethos. We hope everyone involved in this year’s outing has another great day out.”
