Kid Basketball Camp’s Second Annual Event Was Announced by Texas Ex Dylan Disu
On August 3, Dylan Disu, a graduate student in men’s basketball at Texas, will hold his own youth basketball camp for the second year in a row. Boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16 are welcome to register for the event, which will take place at Disu’s old haunt, Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
“It’s somewhat of a privilege for me, as I recall attending the Hendrickson basketball camp during my sixth and seventh grade years,” Disu said to Spectrum News in the previous year. It means a lot to me to be able to organize a camp for kids and be that guy they look up to.
Disu, who is returning to the Longhorns for his third season in 2023–2024, has previously graduated from Texas after finishing the Sports Management Graduate Program and earning a BA in Human Dimensions of Organizations. After playing with the Commodores for two years, the forward transferred from Vanderbilt to Texas. In 2022–2023, he had a breakthrough senior season with the Longhorns, starting 36 of 38 games.
At six feet nine inches tall, Disu towered over opponents and led the team with 46 blocks. She also finished second on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game. In the program’s NCAA March Madness run to the Elite Eight, he averaged 22.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in the victories throughout the first and second rounds. Against Penn State, he scored a career-high 28 points.
The Pflugerville native stated that starting the camp was a result of his decision to expand his audience after moving to Texas.
