With great speed, the Pittsburgh Steelers have moved past the brief Kenny Pickett era. In the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, previous general manager Kevin Colbert selected the former University of Pittsburgh quarterback as Ben Roethlisberger’s replacement. Despite his winning record of 14–10, Pickett’s lackluster play and inability to grow in his second season following a strong preseason left much to be desired. Pickett will be playing for a different team in 2024 as a result of his activities, which included handling the acquisition of Russell Wilson and appearing not to want to dress as Mason Rudolph’s backup for a game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Even when Pickett was named captain for the 2023 campaign, the Steelers offense seemed to be lacking in direction. On locker cleanout day, other captains like Cam Heyward and TJ Watt took the platform to field questions over the unfortunate conclusion of another season, but Pickett did not hold a year-end media availability.
