Who will lead the Lakers as coach?
Heat President Pat Riley won’t chastise Miami Heat executive Udonis Haslem for continuing to discuss team matters in his dual media role. In contrast to his earlier opinions regarding the ideal positions for Heat players Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo to play, Haslem—the former captain of the team who was named the Heat’s vice president of player development this past season—is now utilizing his media platform to highlight Heat assistant Chris Quinn’s coaching background.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel has revealed that Quinn has been granted permission to interview for the Los Angeles Lakers’ open position, as Haslem stated on ESPN’s “NBA Today” that his former Heat teammate would be a good fit.
After finishing his tenth season as an Erik Spoelstra assistant, Quinn has been granted interviews for head coaching positions with the Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, and Milwaukee Bucks in the past. This season, Quinn was mentioned as a potential candidate for the Hornets position that was eventually filled by Boston Celtics assistant Charles Lee.
