Taylan May has been stood down by the NRL under the competition’s no-fault stand-down policy, the Penrith Panthers revealed in a statement on Thursday. May was accused of domestic abuse against his wife.
“The Penrith Panthers have been informed by the National Rugby League that Taylan May has been stood down as part of the NRL’s no-fault stand down policy,” the statement stated.
“The club will continue to provide support to all parties involved and will not make any further comment at this time.” In light of the accusations, News Corp. reports have surfaced indicating that the Penrith Panthers are getting ready to void his contract.
Next Tuesday, May 28, he is scheduled to appear at Penrith Local Court over the accusations made against his spouse. Following a fight at a Werrington residence, May is said to have attacked a woman he knew on the evening of Monday, April 8, 2024. “Police were told about 9pm on Monday 8 April 2024, the man allegedly assaulted a woman known to him during an argument at a home in Werrington,” the statement continued.
