A pair of individuals have received bans from the National Rugby League (NRL) due to allegations of racial abuse directed towards South Sydney Rabbitohs players at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. The NRL claims that during the St. George Illawarra Dragons vs. South Sydney Rabbitohs game, insulting remarks were made against the players.
In accordance with the NRL Spectator Code of Conduct, the NRL has informed the attendees of its intention to ban them for an indefinite length of time.
Racist abuse in the game will not be allowed, according to NRL CEO Andrew Abdo, and will be dealt with immediately. “It is imperative to confront racism in all of its manifestations, as the norm you disregard becomes the norm you adhere to,” stated Mr. Abdo.
“Players that engage in abusive behavior will not be accepted. I applaud the fans who took action and alerted us to this. We’ve been able to act thanks to this knowledge. “Everyone should feel welcome, at ease, and courteous when they attend a rugby league game. Everyone should have a good time and feel welcome.
