Your Boston Bruins have punched their ticket to the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs thanks to the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 loss to the Habs and the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0 victory over the Wings (albeit we only needed one of those outcomes).
There is obviously a wide range of viewpoints. The Black and Gold were not expected to fare well in the preseason after losing Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci and failing to adequately replace their positions.
As the season went on, it became increasingly evident that this team was unaffected by the odds and continued to play to the best of their abilities. Currently, the goal is to improve upon previous year.
Jim Montgomery has already criticized his team for not being prepared for the playoffs. The B’s need to learn more about this animal as it’s unquestionably different.
Eight games remain in the season for them to prove themselves and, ideally, get Patrick Maroon in the starting lineup. In addition, there are still unanswered concerns about who generally makes up the bottom six, which defense pairs make up, and whether the rotation of goalies will continue into the postseason.
But for now, at least, enjoy the moment and know that after April 16th, there will be a bit more hockey.
