BREAKING NEWS: Raiders’ Mark Davis Hits Bottom In Recent Owner Rankings From The Athletic, Ouch

Since October 9, 2011, Mark Davis has been the owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. During his tenure, there hasn’t been much to be happy about.

In his tenure as owner, the Silver and Black have advanced to the playoffs twice. The Athletic ranked him lowest among NFL owners as a consequence.

It seems likely that the Raiders won’t make the playoffs in 2023. In addition, Davis will once more be searching for a new general manager and head coach to implement a plan that makes Las Vegas a playoff contender in the AFC West.

However, the 68-year-old is among the league’s lowest-ranking owners until that occurs.

Why does Mark Davis rank among the worst owners of the NFL?

Many people may be wondering why Davis is ranked No. 26 among NFL owners by The Athletic. Well, it’s easy because of the Raiders’ track record during his tenure. In their first 11 complete seasons under Davis, the Silver and Black are 71-107 (.399).

He’s also fired a number of coaches and failed to select the best candidate for the team. Dennis Allen (8–28), Josh McDaniels (9–16), Jack Del Rio (25-23), and Jon Gruden (11–21) are just a few of the people Davis hired and fired. After taking over as Raiders owner, he did inherit Hue Jackson, but he eventually let him go.

“The on-field record would concur if it feels nothing has changed substantively since Mark Davis took over for Al Davis, his Hall of Fame father,” Mike Sando of The Athletic wrote.

Will Davis, in the end, be hired later on? Antonio Pierce, the acting head coach, is currently making an effort to stay in the position. Even so, it will be interesting to watch what Davis decides to do if he doesn’t, particularly if former NFL quarterback Tom Brady has a significant influence over the choices made.

Notes from the Raiders: Which NFL owners are inferior to Mark Davis?

The owner of the Raiders is ranked 26, despite being near the bottom. Thus, a few names are ranked lower than Davis. Who are they, then, and do you think that they are any worse than the owner who earlier this season advised his fans to “smarten up”?

The 32-year-old Josh Harris just bought the Washington Commanders from the controversial Daniel Snyder. Shad Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is ranked No. 31. That is not surprising given that Khan has a worse record than Davis (60–133).

The other owners listed below Davis are Greg Penner of the Denver Broncos, Cal McNair of the Houston Texans, Jimmy Haslam of the Cleveland Browns, David Tepper of the Carolina Panthers, and Greg Penner of the Denver Broncos.

Davis needs to start making decisions that result in wins and lots of postseason appearances if he wants to be ranked higher the next time The Athletic compiles their list of the best and worst owners. Finding a franchise quarterback is something Davis needs to do in addition to hiring a general manager and head coach. That would take care of some of his problems.
