Bill Belichick’s lack of employment is evidence that six-time Super Bowl winner and Baltimore Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey does not think highly of the great coach.
Following Belichick’s exclusion from all employment opportunities due to the
Washington Commanders’ hiring of Dan Quinn, Humphrey posted on X,
implying that Belichick would have been hired had he truly been the best coach of all time. Humphrey claims that the fact he wasn’t means “that debate can be put to rest.”
That conclusion is quite audacious and unnecessarily basic. It appears that Belichick’s hiring would have necessitated major organizational structure changes, to which at least one team was hesitant to commit. This is the main reason he was not hired. Should someone wish to argue against Belichick, they would likely be better served by highlighting his lack of success following Tom Brady’s departure from the Patriots.
Despite their disagreements, Humphrey has played for the Ravens his entire career and has never been coached by Belichick. For someone who hasn’t seen the coach too frequently, it’s a really daring move.
